Pneumonia for the better

Something very important has happened to me this week. I got Pneumonia.

Why would this be important, you ask? Allow me to explain.

Finance has always been an issue for me. Something, I imagine, many young professionals can relate to. You know the song and dance. It sways to the tune of ramen noodles a couple of times a week and buying your shampoo at the dollar store. I would drive myself crazy if it weren't for my faith. Now, faith is a very personal topic. Lucky for me, this is turning out to be somewhat of a personal blog, not so much a professional one. : )

How did we go from pneumonia to money to faith? Hold on to your panties for a sec, I'm getting to the point.

Pneumonia is not a fun thing to manage. So I've been home in bed for three days. That puts me at only three days of work this week. Translation: Loss of much needed dough. Thankfully, I have a God that loves me personally. He has taken care of me time after time and this time will be no different. Therefore, getting sick has been very important to me because it is testing and strengthening my faith and perseverance.

I am blogging about this tonight because I'd like to be able to candidly share my ups and downs with you. I can't wait to show you how I come out on the other side!

Thankful for Swoozies

I heart Swoozies! I walk in that store and just swoon. It's a hostess's dream! Just check out all their cute Thanksgiving gear. How 'bout those little plastic cups that let you write what you're thankful for?? Too cute.

The Big Girl Job

Ya know when you're still in school and your working in a mall food court or some other seemingly insignificant place of business, and you contemplate what you'll do after graduation? What did you call that future job? Your career, your real job, your profession maybe?

I like to call it.....the big girl job. Little girls in the south often say, "When I'm a big girl....."  For instance, "When I'm a big girl, I'll stay up as late as I want!"

I only half consider myself to be a big girl. Sometimes I pout when I don't get my way and I still can't kill a spider if my life depended on it.

This reflection on what it means to be a big girl really got me thinking today. I am incredibly blessed to already know what I want to do for the rest of my life at the ripe old age of 23. I sometimes forget that I'm only 23. I tend to think more along the lines of "I'm already 23."

Occasionally I have to stop and smell the roses. I have to appreciate that I can start early and not wander for 20 years wondering what will make me happy and make me money at the same time. Do you have a big girl job? If so, what is it? If not, what are you doing in the meantime?

By the way...the picture above is me before I was a big girl. : )
