Great flowers and great food

Yesterday was an exciting day for me. Robin, one of my beautiful brides, is a nursing student and is at a very critical point in her semester. Hence, she and her mother have graciously split the duties of this fabulous event they're planning. I have been working with her mom, Joan, for the past four months and it has been so much fun.

We started the day off yesterday in Carolina Beach with Roxanne of Island Florals by Roxanne. She is awesome! Some of the work she has done just puts me in awe. You should definitely go check out her site. I've gotten flowers from her before, but this was the first time that I've had the pleasure of meeting her. She's wonderfully down to earth, and I can't wait to see what she puts together for Robin and Shaun.

Our second appointment was with Pete from Atlantic Quest Catering. What a pleasant guy he is! He will be preparing some of the best food Wilmington has to offer for R + S's guests. I think that might be what I'm most excited about! Haha!

Joan and I discussed a few big items like chairs, and quite a few smaller details like votive-lined staircases and gift bag items. I have to say we were very productive! Thank you Joan for always being so much fun to work with!

More Dress for Your Money!

I wasn't aware, but Victoria's Secret has its own line of bridesmaids' dresses! Once you're at the home page of the site, just type "Bridesmaid" into the search box to see the bold styles they have to offer.

As I was browsing, I came across this 7-in-1 dress. This is a $95 dress that has the potential to be worn seven different ways. It comes with instructions and illustrations. Here are just a few different versions, but check out the site for yourself! Talk about getting your money's worth!

Child's Play

Children have always been a hot topic of wedding conversation. To invite or not to invite?  You don't want to insult anyone by implying that their children are a chore, but you want your guests to enjoy themselves without tending to their young loves.

The kids' corner is the solution. A separate area of your reception location is designated as the kids' corner or room. Whether you hire a babysitting service or designate this responsibility to mature teen relatives, this area should be supervised. Tables are set up just like the "grown-ups room" but in a kid-friendly fashion!

Instead of white linens, white sheet paper may line the tiny round tables so that everyone can color their own designs.

A more fun version of your dinner is served to them. For example, if your guests are having chicken parmesan, their little ones can enjoy chicken tenders and mac and cheese.

To keep them entertained, have coloring books and crayons (less mess than markers or paint). Organize games or activities and maybe even hire a balloon artist or magician to keep them smiling. Some couples have set up a television and playstation or Xbox to keep the older ones entertained.

It would be a great idea for the group to work on a craft that they could give to the Bride and Groom to place in their new home. It would be put with the other wedding gifts so that the new couple isn't carrying a macaroni picture frame with them to their honeymoon. ; )

What the Heck is A Swoozie?

Have you been to Swoozies? It is the must shop for any hostess. They have all the party supplies a diva could need: Koozies and cocktail napkins, pitchers and platters, stationary and salad tongs, etc.  There are a few brick and mortar locations, but if you don't have one nearby, you can always shop online!

Look at these cute cocktail napkins I found yesterday while perusing the store! It makes me really want to have a summer cocktail party at my new house!
