Vocab Tuesday-Fabric Terms

Vocab Tuesday was moved to Vocab Wednesday this week due to a shortage of hours in the day and an excess of markings on my to-do list. In other words: I'm late! So let's get started!

Have you been dress shopping yet? If so, you may have been a little discombobulated by the many different types of fabric that exist to make your gown oh-so-fabulous. Here are a few definitions to set you straight.

Charmeuse: A somewhat clingy fabric that has a bit of a shine to it. It is usually woven with silk, cotton, or rayon. Dresses made from this type are best for those bridesmaids who have nothing to hide.

Georgette: A silky textile that is very similar to chiffon, but it is made with crepe yarn instead of silk. It is soft and transparent.

Organza: This is a sheer material as well, but is much stiffer and holds more body than georgette or chiffon.

Taffeta: It is also stiff and holds body with it's crisp texture. It holds a sheen, and often changes shade when looked at from a different angle. The picture above is a great example of taffeta.

Until next time, leave a comment with any questions you might have!
