Vocab Tuesday-Floral Terms

Adding a few new terms to your vocabulary just might help you better describe the bouquet of your dreams to your florist. Here are a few:

Line Flowers: These are flowers that have several blooms along a long stem. They are great for cascading bouquets or just outlining your medium-sized bunch. Snapdragons are a beautiful example of a line flower.

Form Flowers: These blossoms have a defined shape. They are usually used as the main flower or focus of the arrangement. Tulips make a great illustration for these. Just remember: form-focus.

Mass Flowers: These are exactly what they sound like. They take up the mass or bulk of the arrangement. They are larger, round flowers that take up space--ideal for filling a larger arrangement. Visualize Hydrangeas as a mass flower.

Filler Flowers: These less expensive blooms are perfect for the chick on a limited budget. They are classic for creating a full look in a smaller bouquet or arrangement. They are generally smaller flowers with multiple blooms. Think Baby's Breath.

Well divas, I hope you learned something valuable today! Stay tuned for more vocab next Tuesday!
