Company News

It has been a little while since I have posted about company news. My very first post stated that this blog would be dedicated to tidbits of wedding fun and would chronicle my journey. Well, I've shared plenty of tidbits, but not so much of my journey as an entrepreneur. 

I want this blog to not only inspire Brides and Grooms, but to inspire new business owners as well. Breaking into this business is not easy. Not easy at all. I've had a few really inspiring women help me along the way, but for the most part, you're kind of on your own. I would love for young girls like myself to have something to read that says, "Hey, I've been there too." And more mature women who have decided to make a change in career as well. 

First, allow me to share two women who have helped me personally through the start of my business.

Shanika Butts of SJB Weddings and Events. This chick called me up and basically gave me the most inspiration I could ever ask for. She told me how she got started, what I needed to do, who I needed to talk to, and then stayed on me to make sure I did it! She encouraged me when I held back a little, and is always there when I need a question answered.

Tara Lazar. Tara has been an inspiration to me because not only is she a kick-butt business woman, but she has overcome incredible obstacles to get what she wants. After I moved to Wilmington and she moved to Atlanta, I could email her with questions about this area because she rocked it out here for so long. She never hesitated to help me out. A lot of other planners wouldn't have done that.

Lastly, I would like to share an amazing resource with those of you who are managing your own business. The Smart Planner. I check this blog every day and it always has something that I can take from it. I don't know how to express my gratitude to Liene Stevens for bringing this idea to life.
